Israel, April 1-8.

Hello and welcome to Remembering Eleven, where we share some of our favourite travel moments with you. The goal is to share eleven images from each destination... sometimes we may go a little under or over, but hopefully you will enjoy these highlights from our year-long honeymoon.

Our first stop was Israel, where we were to attend a wedding in the family. On the streets of Tel Aviv, we walked by the Naomi store... although I am quite happy with the one that I have. No need to exchange or upgrade.

We had barely caught our breath before the wedding was upon us. It was quite the party event - a huge celebration. Even the little ones were dressed to impress. Here we can see Esther, the only girl in all of the little cousins, proudly displaying the hair that took considerable patience to create.

There was a lovely and intimate calm-before-the-storm (no, I am not referring to before the bride made her entrance!) as the family settled in for photographs and the guests began to arrive. A nice moment with Saba and Eitan...

...and then Hila, the bride, did arrive and the event really kicked off from there.

The dancing continued between brief visits to the tables, a Moroccan feast that fueled some fancy moves on the dance floor all through the night.
In the next photo, we see Naomi and Josh holding their own amongst the surging energy on the floor.

The wedding was a huge success, and everyone went home with a smile.
We had a few days before our departure for Paris, and the time was spent with family.
Naomi took a moment after a long walk along the coast to Jaffa.

We also spent time with Saba Arieh, partaking in the two activities that all visitors to his house must do. It is an unwritten rule.
The first, is to eat nuts from the garden while you sit and watch old family videos being transcribed to DVD...

and if you need a break, you can marvel at the walls (and ceilings too) where there is a photograph of every single person Arieh has ever met, and every single place he has ever been to, in all of his 95 years.

It really is a sight to behold.
So, our short visit to the family in Israel came to an end and we packed our bags for France.
At the airport, the luggage trolleys are herded together by their hundreds and thousands.

Touchdown in the smelly splendour of a Hungarian airport. A brief stopover before we land in France.

Susan and I enjoyed lovely moments with you during your week in Israel. Little did we know that the next time I would see you would be 1 month later in the lobby of my seedy hotel in Paris.
